Pam Hooper

Facility Administrator

Pam has her BS in Nursing from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences and is certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Arkansas. Since graduation, Pam has been involved in management of surgical services in both hospitals and surgery centers.

As the former Director of Nursing and Associate Executive Director for Humana Surgical Hospital in Memphis, she was responsible for day-to-day operations of this surgical hospital, as well as corporate CON development and acquisitions. Upon returning to Arkansas in the early 80's, she worked to develop one of the first freestanding ambulatory surgery centers in the state of Arkansas where she continues to manage surgical facilities today. Over the past 25 years she has worked in partnership syndication, surgery center development, Medicare certification and JCAHO accreditation, along with day-to-day financial and operational responsibilities.

In 1997 Pam, and her partner Mary Hill, established Consultants in Healthcare, a consulting company designed to provide development and management services for inpatient and outpatient surgical services. As a partner with Consultants in Healthcare, she has consulted on numerous surgery center projects and has been instrumental in building and managing several joint-venture projects. Since opening in January 1999, Pam has been the Facility Administrator for The Surgical Pavilion. She is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations, financial management, personnel development, managed care contracting, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. She also directs the Performance Improvement Committee and functions as liaison with the Medical Staff and Board of Managers.

Pam enjoys traveling, gardening, and shopping with her husband, Sanford.

Karen VonDresky

Clinical manager

Karen VonDresky has worked in the Peri-operative arena since 1999. She started her career at National Park Hospital in Hot Springs, AR, working in Sterile Processing, as a Scrub Technician while attending Nursing School at National Park Community College. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing.

Upon graduation, Karen began working as a Circulating Nurse, overseeing all surgical cases, as well as being a member of the heart team for 5 years. Karen was the promoted to the Charge Nurse to OR and PACU role. As Charge Nurse, Karen was responsible for management of the surgery personnel and running the surgical schedule. During her twelve years at National Park Hospital, she cross-trained in all areas of peri-op. In 2010, Karen accepted a position as Outpatient Supervisor at St. Vincent; she served in this capacity until 2014.

In 2014-2016, Karen worked as OR Clinical Manager for a prominent Neurosurgeon in Little Rock. In 2016, Karen accepted a position at UAMS as Charge Nurse in day surgery, where she ultimately moved into the Director of Women’s Services position.

In September 2019, she found her home at the Surgical Pavilion. She currently serves as the Clinical Manager. Karen is very passionate about patient care and advocacy.

She is currently working toward her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arkansas State University. Karen has been married to her husband, Scott for 25 years. They have two children; her daughter, Reagan, is married and pursuing a nursing career at Texas A & M. Her son, Lane, is a Junior High School student and is very active in baseball, golf and fishing.

Gretchen Marchese

Financial Manager

With 24 years of medical management experience, Gretchen is well rounded in the area of business operations associated with this field. In her role as Financial Manager, Gretchen is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the center’s business office including maintenance of charge master, managed care contracting, human resources, billing and accounts receivable. She is likewise responsible for accounts payable and in the production and analysis of the center’s monthly financials. She is active in all areas of cost containment and performance improvement and is responsible for forecasting and reporting annual financial projections. Personnel management and general maintenance of the (center) are some of her other responsibilities.

In her free time, Gretchen enjoys boating, the beautiful state of Arkansas and spending time with her two daughters.
